Our current congregation is the spirtual heir of a small group of people who gathered in 1940 to start the Beaverdam Mennonite Church. And some of those same people are still members today.
The congregation has grown past that original group to include a welcome mixture of people from the surrounding community. Some live close by on Turnpike Road or Route 89; others come from Elgin, Corry, Union City, Wattsburg, Waterford, Titusville, Youngsville, Erie, Clymer and places in between and beyond.
Not only are we from many different areas, we are also from many different Christian faith traditions. Our congregation belongs to the Mennonite Church USA denomination, but only about 40% of the church grew up Mennonite. Many of our 137 members grew up outside of the Mennonite Church, but found a home here at Beaverdam Mennonite Church where they feel close to God and one another. We believe this is because our focus here is simple - it is our desire to draw people closer to God and to each other. At Beaverdam Mennonite Church we recognize the importance of being united as one as we represent the Body of Christ.
Our desire, as a Christian community empowered by the Holy Spirit, is to share the love of Jesus Christ with our neighbors through the ministries of worship, education, fellowship and service.
Our mission Statement is:
Thankfully proclaiming that God rescues us.
Faithfully being the eyes, ears, mouth, hands, and feet of Jesus.
Joyfully living by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Let us know we can be a good neighbor. Speak with our Pastor Jay Conn or any member or call the church at (814) 665-5465.
